Taking Career Risks and Success

In a current interview with the New York Times, Michael Keaton opens up about taking risks in his career. He says there were times when he was uncertain about whether or not he should take on certain roles. But he also says that taking those risks helped him to become the actor he is today.

For instance, Keaton says he was unsure whether or not he should accept the role of Batman in Tim Burton's 1989 film. He was worried about whether he could live up to the expectations of fans. But he ultimately decided to take the risk, and the film was a huge success.

Keaton has also taken risks in his personal life, and he says that he is always willing to step outside of his comfort zone. He credits this willingness to take risks with his success.

Partying With Jack Nicholson

In the interview, Keaton also talks about his friendship with Jack Nicholson. He says that they met while filming the 1980 film "The Shining." Keaton says that Nicholson took him under his wing and taught him a lot about the acting business.

Keaton also says that he and Nicholson partied a lot together in the 1980s. He says that they were both young and wild at the time, and they had a lot of fun.

However, Keaton says that he eventually had to distance himself from Nicholson because he was getting into too much trouble. He says that he still loves Nicholson, but he had to protect himself from his self-destructive behavior.

Nearly Passing on “Beetlejuice”

Keaton also reveals in the interview that he nearly passed on the role of Beetlejuice in Tim Burton's 1988 film. He says that he was unsure whether or not he could play such a strange and quirky character.

But Tim Burton convinced him to take the role, and the film was a huge success. Keaton says that it is now one of his favorite roles that he has ever played.
