Make an FOI Request
What is an FOI Request?
The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) gives you the right to access official information held by public bodies.
You can use FOI to request a wide range of information, including:
- Documents
- Emails
- Correspondence
- Reports
- Data
To make an FOI request, you must write to the public body that holds the information you are interested in. You can use the FOI request form on the public body's website, or you can write a letter or email. In your request, you must state that you are making an FOI request and specify the information you are seeking.
The public body has 20 working days to respond to your request. If the public body does not respond within 20 working days, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
